Start From Scratch Chardonnay 2021 |
This small lot wine was Barrel Fermented with “wild” yeast and aged in new and used premium Canadian Oak. It has over the top notes of apricot, tangerine, caramel and coconut milk. The palate gives way to a big and round mouth feel with an extremely long finish.
This calls for buttered lobster, cream based dishes and rich soft cheeses.

2014 Start From Scratch Chardonnay
I hesitate while I write these notes… because there isn’t a lot of this wine made. This wine is for the hardcore locavore. Canadian Oak and Indigenous Yeast make this as truly Canadian as you can get in your winemaking. The nose is roasted pineapple and vanilla with hints of baking spice and just a little bit of funk on the edges. The flavours are more of the same but with the addition of peaches and gala apple just to remind you that this is most definitely made at home. The bar continues to move up and the prices continue to move down for what makes a high quality VQA Chardonnay and this is a trend I can get on board with. Good luck keeping this in the house to age or to pair with food… If you’re sharing this wine with anyone it better be the best of friends or your spouse. The label talks about the challenging 2014 vintage but the wine in the bottle reflects nothing but passion and exceptional winemaking. - Andre Wine Review

2015 Start From Scratch Chardonnay
Consistency is so important when it comes to making a wine as Canadian is this bottle of Chardonnay. Canadian oak barrel and indigenous yeast are were used to make this wine. The nose offers buttered popcorn, bright citrus notes and roasted pineapple with vanilla bean tossed into the mix. This comes in big and round with caramel and vanilla notes layered over pineapple, tangerine, apricot and peach. This wine finishes long and needs no food to be savoured. - Andre Wine Review
