As we turn the corner and enter a new decade into the "20's" I will look back at 2019 with fondness. We had a fabulous growing season in the vineyard and watched the vines reach further for the sky. The 2019 Harvest went off without a hitch, although we had a cool fall and the grapes were left hanging a bit longer, into November which was a first for us. Mother nature always has new and unexpected tricks up her sleeve, so we have little choice but to follow along with the ebs and flows of the growing seasons.
We launched a new Sparkling Wine, Smitten Pink ( which we have nick named "Smittens Sister"). It is a delicious blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meuniere and it has been a popular and welcome addition to our portfolio of small batch wines.
Pruning has just taken place in the vineyard as it has been a farily mild winter with a few steep frigid dips. The vines are all looking healthy and robust as we all wait for the big thaw so that we can watch bud break and breathe in Spring. The new vintage of Riesling, Smitten, Gamay, and Rose have all been bottled. This Spring will see the release of the highly anticpated 2019 Rose & Gamay. For now the Cab Franc, Chardonay and Pinot from the 2019 growing season are tucked away "sleeping beauties" in their barrels.
The Tasting Bungalow continues to be open Friday through Sunday from 11:30-5:00 until May long weekend, when we open again 7 days a week. We look forward to welcoming all of you to the vineyard in 2020.
Cheers! Keep doing what you love!
